Mr. George Bovell III
Athens Games Village,
GREECE.
Dear George,
The Amateur Swimming
Association of Trinidad and Tobago congratulates you, our brightest star.
We know that you have
worked long and hard in the vineyards.
We know that it has been a sometimes lonely trail where you would have
been forced to look within yourself and your extended family for the true grit
and determination.
We recognize that your
achievement is a culmination of a century of competitive swimming, and 54 years
of the Association’s existence. For all
the hundreds, including those who aspired to simply get across the breadth of
the pool to those who dreamt of these lofty Olympian heights, WE SALUTE YOU, WE
COMMEND YOU, WE CONGRATULATE YOU and the rest of the swim team Coach Anil, Manager
George II and teammates Sharntelle and
Linda for your stellar efforts for the Red, White and Black.
We extend the heartiest
congratulations to your family, your
mother Barbara and father George II, who have been
instrumental in steering your career.
We also must publicly commend your two sets of grandparents, who were
instructive in ensuring that both your parents pursued athletic and academic
excellence, which has been handed down to you.
God’s grace continue to be with you all as you return from Athens
safely.
Geoffrey Ferreira was the
beacon for swimmers 3 decades ago, you are now handed the torch, to show the
others the way and we know that you shall carry it with distinction.
The Association hosts the
Goodwill Swim Meet this weekend (August, 20th –22nd) ,
which is a developmental meet to the younger ones into the sport. We therefore see, the full cycle and your
performance has planted the seed into our 2012 Olympians, and for this we are
eternally grateful.
Yours faithfully,
…………………………
